Getty’s Cove Closed for 2010 Season
Property Purchased by Grant PUD in 2009

EPHRATA, WA – The popular Columbia River resort known as Getty’s Cove is closed to the public during the 2010 season and until further notice.

Grant PUD acquired the property in 2009 with the intent of using it to meet future Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license requirements for the Priest Rapids Project.

The 97-acre property located on the west shoreline of the river, five miles south of Vantage, was previously managed as a private RV park and campground, but has been closed the past two recreational seasons.

With the closure of the site, Grant PUD staff and contractors are working to assess the facility to determine what is required to bring the property up to an industry recreation standard. Portions of the facility will be upgraded before it opens to the public. Additionally, the property will be evaluated to ensure that future use is aligned with Grant PUD shoreline and recreation management objectives.

“Our goal is to determine how the property can be best utilized for project purposes,” stated Lands and Recreation Resource Manager Kelly Larimer. “We regret limiting access to this great site and appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding while we evaluate the property to ensure that any future use fits into our broader shoreline management and recreation plans.”

The Getty’s Cove Property is closed to the public until appropriate use of the property is identified and developed. Grant PUD staff asks that those needing site access for work-related reasons, obtain written permission to enter Getty’s Cove.
