Grant PUD Commissioner Tom Flint Elected President of WPUDA
EPHRATA, WA – In 2009, current Grant PUD Commission President Tom Flint will serve as president of the Washington Public Utility Districts Association (WPUDA). Elected by WPUDA members at their December 4 annual meeting, Flint takes office in January.
The WPUDA is comprised of commissioners and managers of public utility districts throughout Washington state. The association supports, protects and enhances its members’ ability to provide not-for-profit, locally controlled utility services for the people of Washington.
Citing his goals as WPUDA president, Flint plans to continue his work to emphasize the benefits of hydropower. “Ensuring that Washington state recognizes hydropower as a renewable resource is a top priority during my term,” stressed Flint. He also plans to work with those who belong to WPUDA to be sure they provide the momentum behind all future WPUDA initiatives. “I will work diligently to increase WPUDA’s accountability to the commissioners and managers who belong to the association and to ensure its credibility with the membership.“
“I would like to commend Tom Flint on his election as WPUDA president,” stated Grant PUD Commission Vice President Terry Brewer. “Tom has a history of being a positive advocate for Grant PUD and the other Mid-Columbia PUDs. His new role ensures that we continue to have a strong presence in the state and the Pacific Northwest.”
As he completes his 2008 term as Grant PUD president, Flint is also completing a term as WPUDA vice president. Previously he served as secretary/treasurer for WPUDA.
