Warehouse Forklift Operators Win State Competition
October 13, 2008
EPHRATA, WA - Grant County Public Utility District’s forklift team of John Millard, Bill Nichols and Brad Martinez captured the top team award in the annual forklift rodeo competition at the 57th Annual Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference.
The forklift rodeo competition is designed to demonstrate both driver skill and safe forklift operation. The statewide competition tests participants’ knowledge through a written exam, pre-flight inspection and driving skills.
Grant PUD drivers participated in regional competition held this summer where the top five individual competitors from each region advanced to the state competition.
The Governor’s Industrial Safety and Health Conference provides resources to assist in design and maintenance of a sound safety and healthy culture at workplaces. The benefits include: reduced injuries, less time lost from work, and money saved on industrial insurance premiums.
