eBay Best Choice for Grant PUD Surplus Auction
June 26, 2008

EPHRATA, WA - The annual Grant PUD surplus property auction is coming to a computer near you. Gone is the long day at the fairgrounds waiting for the item or pallet you’ve set your sights on to come up for bid.  In an effort to economize on the auction process, and make it possible for more county residents to participate, Grant PUD has employed the convenience of eBay.

Grant PUD began selling surplus furniture, computers and other miscellaneous items on eBay in June.  Each auction lasts seven days.  Auctions will be held throughout the year as surplus items become available.  Accessing the auctions is simple and can be done through a link on Grant PUD’s Web site:  http://www.gcpud.org/contracting/index.htm.  From that page visitors can directly access Grant PUD’s current eBay listing or register to be notified of future auctions. The eBay auction site includes photographs and descriptions of all items to be sold.  All items must be picked up at Grant PUD.

Craig Weddle, support services manager noted that, “not only do the people of the county benefit from running the auction through eBay, but it will reduce utility costs associated with the handling and storage requirements of the annual auctions held in the past.”

The surplus auction for licensed and some non-licensed vehicles will continue to be conducted through a professional auctioneering company.
