Grant PUD Reviewing Future Financial Requirements
February 25, 2008
EPHRATA, WA – In February and March study sessions, Grant County PUD Commissioners and staff are analyzing the utility’s forecasted revenue requirements for the next five years. These sessions will help the commission determine the impact those requirements may have on the utility’s customer rates in the coming years.
Grant PUD is proactively planning for expected increases in its operations costs and how those expenditures will be allocated across the customer rates classes. Factors that are driving the increases include costs associated with the implementation of a new license for the Priest Rapids Project expected to be over $800 million over the term of the new license period (anticipated to be 50 years), costs in excess of $500 million to replace all turbines and generators at Wanapum and Priest Rapids dams and increases in the cost of power delivered to customers.
The next rate workshop is scheduled for Wednesday, March 5. Commissioners and staff will discuss irrigation and commercial customer rate classifications.
