Low - Income Disabled Rate Discount Offered by Grant PUD

EPHRATA - The residential rate discount of 20 percent for low-income, disabled customers, adopted by Grant PUD commissioners today, takes effect on November 1. 

To be eligible for this discounted rate, Grant PUD customers must meet the following qualifications: 

  1. have a total household income including customer’s spouse or co-tenant(s), that is equal to or less than 150 percent of the poverty guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, and
  2. proof of current enrollment in the federal Supplemental Security Income medical benefit program for the aged, blind or disabled; or proof of enrollment in a Washington State General Assistance program for either the Unemployable or Expedited Medicaid Disability.

Examples of the current income thresholds for 150 percent of the poverty guideline are: 

  1. a one-person household at or less than $15,315 annual income, 
  2. a two-person household at or less than $20,535,
  3. a three-person household at or less than $25,755, and
  4. a four-person household at or less than $30,975 annual income.

Qualifying customers are encouraged to call Grant PUD customer service at 509-766-2505 or 1-800-422-3199 or visit one of our local offices in Ephrata, Grand Coulee, Moses Lake, Quincy or Royal City. 

Customers must provide identification, proof of current enrollment in one of the disability programs named above, as well as proof of income sources and amounts for their household.

Grant PUD also offers a similar program for low-income senior citizens. Seniors 62 years of age or older who meet the same income criteria may be eligible for a 20 percent discount on their residential account.  Interested customers can contact customer service to learn more about this program.
