– Grant PUD is pleased to announce the promotion of three employees to management positions.
Bryan Bird, Chief Power Plant Operator at Priest Rapids Dam, has been selected as the new Hydro Operations Supervisor for Grant County PUD’s Priest Rapids and Wanapum Dams. In anticipation of Supervisor John Muir’s retirement, Bird will transition into the position while working with Muir this year.
“Bryan Bird is extremely knowledgeable of our hydro power plant operations,” said Grant PUD Director of Hydro Operations, Dawn Woodward. “He has the energy and enthusiasm to ensure increased training for the operations staff and the commitment to maintain high operating standards.”
Bird has been employed at Grant County PUD since 1987. He resides in Richland.
Jill Hensley, a Grant PUD employee since 1982, has been promoted to Help Desk Manager. Hensley and her staff assist employees in all PUD facilities (including the hydropower plants) with computer equipment needs and problems related to computers, telephones and radios. She also manages public records and records and reprographics. Hensley lives in Ephrata.
“Jill is an excellent person for this position based on her experience and past performance,” said Larry Jones, Grant PUD director of information technology.
Jeff Shupe, Transmission and Distribution Engineering Manager, joined Grant County PUD in April. He moved to Ephrata from the Tri-Cities where he was employed with the engineering consultant firm of D. Hittle & Associates, Inc. Shupe gained broad experience over 18 years providing cost-effective engineering solutions to regional electric utilities.
“Jeff’s experience provides the District with a solid background for the growth challenges facing our transmission and distribution system,” said Tony Webb, Grant PUD’s director of customer service.
