Kevin Nordt New Director of Power Management

EPHRATA - Kevin Nordt has been selected to be Director of Power Management for the Grant County Public Utility District. He assumes these duties December 15 and is replacing Director Bill Dearing who is retiring in June. This appointment will provide a smooth transition of those duties and responsibilities in anticipation of Bill’s retirement.

Nordt is currently working in Grant PUD’s Ephrata office as the Mid-Columbia Coordinator, a shared employee of all the utilities that are parties to the Mid-Columbia Hourly Coordination Agreement. In this position since 2004, Nordt works with public and private utilities as well as the Bonneville Power Administration on the intricacies of managing power supplies throughout the Northwest. With Grant PUD, Nordt will direct and manage the Power Management Division in their key work of wholesale power purchases and sales, power sales contract negotiations, analyzing new power generation additions, long and short term power planning, efficient operation and transmission of Grant PUD’s power generation and safe operation of the utility’s power transmission and distribution system within Grant County.

Nordt is a native of New York with a B.S. in mathematical physics from St. John’s University and an M.S. in nuclear engineering and engineering physics from the University of Wisconsin. He has been working in the Northwest for nearly 20 years with Portland General Electric, Energy Northwest and the regional coordinator position.
