Orange safety buoys and cable barriers have been
installed upstream from the dams to warn boaters away
from the danger of close approach to turbine intakes
and the spillway.
Signs also warn boaters about the danger of approaching
too closely to the downstream side of the dams.
Be aware that water released from the dams can create
hazardous boating conditions and river flow fluctuations
affecting shoreline water levels.
This portion of the river is known for sudden high
winds. The fact is, it can be perfectly calm out there
and within minutes a wind will rise creating white caps
and surf on the shore.
