Land Use
Grant PUD has managed the lands of the Priest Rapids Project under the Priest Rapids / Wanapum Land Use Plan since its development and adoption in 1992. Specific goals include:
- Protect natural resources and minimize the degradation of natural resources when protection cannot be afforded
- Allow the public access, to Project waters and adjacent lands (to a reasonable extent)
- Allow safe public access to the lands and waters of the Project
- Preserve and protect lands that are suitable for future public recreation development and use
- Protect the scenic quality of the river and its surrounding landscape
- Preserve and protect archaeological and historical sites and traditional cultural properties within the Project
- Enhance compatibility among land uses through sound management practices, along with efforts to maintain communication and coordination with regulatory and land management agencies
- Comply with laws and regulations of entities having jurisdiction over Grant PUD’s activities
