Nason Creek Acclimation Program
The Nason Creek spring Chinook salmon population is listed as endangered and is protected under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). National Marine Fisheries Service, the office within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with oversight of the ESA, determined in a 2008 biological opinion that there is a high risk of extinction of this population. Hatchery supplementation is necessary to meet the requirements of the ESA.
Plans for this acclimation facility are presently being developed. Grant PUD invites all interested public to join discussions that will shape the Nason Creek program. You can become involved in several ways:
- Attend upcoming public meetings. Future annual meetings will be announced via newsletter and in Leavenworth-area newspapers.
- Subscribe to the White River and Nason Creek Programs newsletter to stay informed on program planning and progress. Contact Grant PUD Fish, Wildlife and Water Quality staff to subscribe: fishandwildlife@gcpud.org
