The residents of Grant County have always kept an eye towards the future.
In the 1930s and 1940s, they formed their own public utility district to spread
electricity throughout the county. In the 1950s and 1960s, citizens of the
county encouraged their PUD to develop hydropower generation plants on the
Columbia River to produce clean, renewable, reliable, low-cost power, not only
for themselves, but for future generations.
