Washington State Passes Progressive Renewable Energy Legislation
The Washington State production incentive payment program for development of small scale renewables was authorized in the spring of 2005 by the Legislature’s passage of SB5101. However the law requires before implementation that 80 percent of all statewide utilities agree on acceptable uniform interconnections standards.
Grant County PUD Involved Statewide and Locally
Along with other utilities, the PUD has taken an active role in participating in the statewide committee to draft uniform interconnection standards. Grant PUD received thanks along with six others utilities from the Washington PUD Association's Executive Director for assisting in what was considered an “amazing success” for arriving at a uniform standard, developed by both public and private utilities.
Locally, the PUD has also begun considering adopting these new interconnection standards to best serve our customer owners after addressing worker safety and reliability issue.
The term “interconnection service” means service to an electric consumer under which an on-site electrical generating facility on the consumer’s premises may be connected to the local distribution facilities.
