What are Alternative Energy Resources?
Alternative energy resources refers to forms of energy
produced from wind, solar, bio-mass and some qualifying
hydroelectric projects among others that are now being
referred to as “Green Power” resources.
Under the PUD’s program, customers may support
alternative energy resources in 100 kWh blocks. Alternatively,
customers may make a voluntary contribution in the form
of a lump sum payment, which will be used to support
development of alternative energy resources.
Under the program, the funds will go toward purchasing
NEW renewable resources, mostly wind power – the
most reasonable renewable resources. However, some funds
may be used to encourage development and use of new
technologies such as solar, bio-mass or other qualifying
resource.
