Grant County PUD’s Alternative Energy Program

Option to Purchase NEW renewable resources.

What are Alternative Energy Resources?

Alternative energy resources refers to forms of energy produced from wind, solar, bio-mass and some qualifying hydroelectric projects among others that are now being referred to as “Green Power” resources.

Under the PUD’s program, customers may support alternative energy resources in 100 kWh blocks. Alternatively, customers may make a voluntary contribution in the form of a lump sum payment, which will be used to support development of alternative energy resources.

Under the program, the funds will go toward purchasing NEW renewable resources, mostly wind power – the most reasonable renewable resources. However, some funds may be used to encourage development and use of new technologies such as solar, bio-mass or other qualifying resource.

How Do I Benefit By Participating?

Although no additional power will be delivered, the amount you agree to purchase will directly support the development of new Qualified Alternative Energy Resources. These resources will supplement existing hydroelectric resources owned by the PUD.

Your enrollment in this program also entitles you to claim the benefits of directly supporting additional resources that are clean and renewable.
