Quincy Chute
Grant County is the fourth largest county in Washington state. The economy of the county is largely dependent upon agriculture and food processing. Abundant water provided by the Bureau of Reclamation’s Columbia Basin Irrigation Project and low cost power from the Priest Rapids Project allow Columbia Basin farmers to make significant contributions to the nation’s food supply.
The Quincy Chute is a small hydroelectric generating facility located on one of the main irrigation canals and operated by a consortium of local irrigation districts. Under agreement with irrigation partners, Grant PUD financed, designed and constructed the Quincy Chute Project. The Quincy Chute Project is owned and licensed by the Grand Coulee Project Hydroelectric
Authority.
