Net Metering
Net Metering and Renewable Energy System Cost Recovery
What is Net Metering?
Utility customers can generate their own electricity using systems of 100KW or less in capacity and request to feed excess electricity to Grant PUD’s system by making application for net metering. Net metering measures the difference between the electricity bought from Grant PUD and excess electricity produced by the customer using their own generating equipment.

Renewable Energy System Cost Recovery
Under Washington State’s Renewable Energy System Cost Recovery (RESCR) legislation, Washington State utilities have the option of participating in a state incentive program for Washington State resident ratepayers (residential, non-residential and government) to install and produce solar, wind and/or biomass generated electrical energy on their own property. Customers apply to Washington State Department of Revenue for system certification and then apply to Grant PUD for incentive payment.
How the RESCR Works
- Complete the Washington State Department of Revenue certification application to qualify for the annual incentive payment.
