Wanapum Heritage Center Museum

The recently remodeled Wanapum Heritage Center Museum provides a trip through time in the region occupied by the Wanapum. The displays are arranged in a chronological sequence that begins in prehistoric time and ends with the construction of Priest Rapids and Wanapum Dams. The reservoirs created by the construction of these dams flooded the riverbanks that were once so important to the Wanapum. The Wanapum lived in traditional tule mat houses on the banks of the river up until the lands were flooded in the 1950’s. There are many impressive displays and artifacts within the museum.

The newly remodeled Wanapum Heritage Center is open for visitors
Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and
Sunday. The center is located five miles south of I-90 and Vantage on Highway
