Energy-Efficient Lighting

Energy Star Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs

We continue to promote the use of energy-efficient compact fluorescent light bulbs that reduce energy use up to 75% over incandescent bulbs and typically last as long as 13 regular bulbs. Look for the Energy Star sticker when you purchase compact fluorescent light bulbs.

Energy-Efficient LED (light emitting diode) Lights

We promote the use of energy-efficient LED light bulbs that drastically reduce energy use and typically last more than 100,000 hours. Most incandescent bulbs last about 750 hours and compact bulb life is up to 10,000 hours.

Christmas Lights

Look for LED Christmas lights, flashlights, lanterns, and vehicle lights. Some auto manufacturers are beginning to use LED lights for headlights that can easily last longer than the useful life of the car.
